Word of the Year – Local

As each year winds down, I love to take a moment to reflect — to look back on the blooms that brightened the fields, the lessons tucked between rows of flowers, and the people who made it all meaningful. This past year, one word has stood out to me again and again: Local.
“Local” has been the heartbeat of Eagleview Farm — a reminder that beauty doesn’t have to be flown in from far away. It can grow right here, nourished by our soil, our seasons, and our community. From spring tulips to autumn dahlias, every stem we’ve harvested has been part of a larger story — one rooted deeply in this hamlet of Southwestern Ontario.
Over the past season, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many new faces through our flower subscriptions, farm stand, and local markets. Each bouquet sent out the message that choosing local matters — it supports small farms, reduces environmental impact, and celebrates the natural rhythms of our landscape. I’m endlessly grateful for every doorstep delivery, every market smile, and every person who chose Eagleview blooms for their special moments.
As we step into the new year, “Local” remains my guiding word. My goals are to keep growing — not just flowers, but deeper connections within our community. I want Eagleview Farm to continue being a place where people can experience the magic of locally grown flowers. Whether through workshops, collaborations with other local makers, or new flower experiences, I’m excited to keep finding ways to share the joy that blossoms here.
So here’s to another year of growing local, supporting local, and celebrating all the beauty that thrives right here at home. Thank you for being part of this journey and for believing in the power of local flowers — from our fields to your hands.
